Dialpad and Ada said on November 4 that they are combining, with a close around November 12. The same Dialpad release says Ada already runs more than 500 production AI agents on voice, chat, email and social. The catch: those agents can already change bookings and issue refunds inside client systems, so Canadian buyers need a written rule for who still signs an AI agent refund after Craig Walker becomes CEO of the combined company.
Key points
Who signs when an Ada agent refunds a customer?
The release emphasises one team around each customer: voice network, conversation intelligence and agents that finish work instead of routing it. That is a clear product story, and Ada’s own announcement tells it the same way. Ada’s agents already act in connected systems, which is why public deal coverage stressed bookings and refunds, rather than chat replies alone.
What it skips is the signature. Who can approve a refund above a dollar limit. Who gets paged when the agent is unsure. Who is still accountable when the parent company is Dialpad and the AI lead is Murchison. Keeping today’s contracts is useful. It is not the same as an escalation map that survives a new CEO.
We have not tested Ada’s agents or Dialpad’s voice stack. This column is a buyer’s reading of the primary release and the decision Canadian CX leads still have before November 12.
Three checks before the November 12 close
If your team is on Ada, Dialpad or both, run these three checks with your account lead this week. Pass means you have a named person and a written rule. Fail means keep high-risk actions on a human until you do.
That checklist sits next to our earlier advice to give third-party agents their own key, our LifeVal read on who presses submit, and the question of whether merchants should enable shopping agents. Agents that only draft are one risk class. Agents that refund are another.

What nobody has tested yet
Nobody outside the account has measured how often Ada’s 500 agents escalate versus act. Dialpad has not published a shared SLA for refund authority after close. If the companies post a clear, customer-facing escalation standard that names human authority for refunds and bookings, that evidence would settle the gap this column flags. Until then, Canadian mid-market CX leads should treat the November 12 date as a contract hygiene deadline, as well as a corporate close.
FAQ
When do Dialpad and Ada expect to close?
Dialpad’s November 4, 2026 release targets a close around November 12, 2026. That note does not disclose financial terms.
How many Ada AI agents are in production?
Dialpad says Ada already runs more than 500 production AI agents on voice, messaging, email and social, in more than 130 languages.
Do existing Ada contracts change at close?
The release says Dialpad and Ada customers keep their contracts, prices, account teams and support paths, and that integrations stay as set today. Ask your account team to confirm that in writing for your own order forms.
What is an AI agent refund rule?
It is a written limit on when an AI agent may issue a refund or change a booking without a person, who approves amounts above that limit, and how the hand-off works when the agent is unsure. Canadian buyers should get that rule before the Dialpad close.
