Apple began rolling Siri AI out on 14 September, and Apple’s Canadian support page lists it as available here, in English, behind a waitlist. The controls for businesses are still being finished, so the rule has to come from you.
- Siri AI runs on iPhone 15 Pro and later with iOS 27, and Apple says requests use on-device processing and its Private Cloud Compute servers.
- Apple says the models were built in collaboration with Google’s Gemini. It does not say whether Google servers ever see a request.
- Apple’s own guide for administrators says more Siri AI controls arrive in later betas.
Siri AI business use is the question a lot of owners will meet by accident. A staff member sees the waitlist option in Settings, joins it and starts asking their phone to summarize a client email. Apple’s rollout is in beta, in English, and opt-in, which means exposure on company phones will be uneven. That is the case for a written rule this week.
TL;DR
- Verified fact: Apple’s newsroom post says Siri AI began rolling out in beta in English, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish due the following month.
- Verified fact: Apple’s Canadian support page says it is available in Canada, in English, with a waitlist.
- Attributed claim: Apple says requests run on device and on Private Cloud Compute servers, and that personal data is not stored or made accessible to Apple or anyone else.
- Analysis: a beta product, controls still arriving and no independent security review mean client-confidential data should stay out of it for now.
- Action: decide your position, write it in a paragraph and tell staff before they find the setting.
What did Apple actually ship?
Apple says Siri AI began rolling out on 14 September as a beta in English on iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27. It needs an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max or any iPhone 16 or later, and the Canadian page also lists iPhone Air. Apple excludes the European Union and China from the launch. In Canada, the page says availability is English only, with a waitlist and wait times that vary. We wrote about Siri’s plans in June. This is what Apple has now confirmed.
French is promised for the following month, and the announcement does not say whether that includes French as spoken in Canada. A team that works in French should not assume it.
Where do your requests go, and what does Google do?
Apple says Siri AI runs on the device and on servers using Private Cloud Compute, and that personal data is not stored or made accessible to Apple or anyone else. Apple also says the models were custom-built in collaboration with Google and its Gemini models. The documents checked here do not say whether any request is ever handled on Google infrastructure, how long anything is retained, or whether Private Cloud Compute covers every request.
Those statements are Apple’s. No independent security researcher had published a review of Siri AI in the sources checked, so there is neither a finding against it nor a finding in its favour. Treat the privacy claim as unaudited until someone outside Apple tests it.
Try This Week
- List which company-paid iPhones are eligible, meaning iPhone 15 Pro or later on iOS 27, and which people are on them.
- Check which of those phones are supervised in your device management. Supervised phones can be managed more tightly than personal ones used for work.
- Decide your rule. A workable default is to allow Siri AI for calendar, reminders and general questions, and to keep client documents, financial records and anything under a confidentiality agreement out of it.
- Write the rule in one paragraph and send it to staff, because many will discover the option themselves.
- Put a date in the calendar to review it when Apple ships further management controls.
What can a company block today?
Apple’s notes for administrators say device management can restrict the use of Siri AI, Visual Intelligence and natural-language calendar event editing. Its deployment guide is narrower. It describes a Siri settings declaration for supervised devices that covers Siri on and off, access from a locked device and user-generated content, and it says additional management for Siri AI will be available in future beta releases.
The practical reading is that a firm which must block Siri AI today has a broad Siri switch on supervised phones and nothing granular. Staff on personal phones used for work have no company lever at all. We could not confirm which exact setting turns off Siri AI alone.
What does the sceptic say?
The best counter-argument is that a policy is overkill. Siri AI is a beta behind a waitlist, few staff will use it for anything sensitive, and Apple has a better record on device privacy than most vendors. A small firm with ten phones has bigger risks. That is true, and nobody should lose a week to it.
The reply is about cost. One paragraph takes 20 minutes, and it covers a product that will be on every eligible phone within months. The forecast here is that Apple ships a Siri AI-specific management control within 60 days, which would mostly settle the technical side. It would be wrong if Apple’s deployment guide shows no such control by 7 December 2026.
What to watch
- Apple’s deployment guide, for a management key that targets Siri AI specifically.
- Whether French, as spoken in Canada, ships in October.
- Any independent security testing of Private Cloud Compute with Gemini-based models.
- Any Privacy Commissioner statement on voice assistants that read email and documents.
Frequently asked questions
Is Siri AI available in Canada?
Apple’s Canadian support page says Siri AI is available in Canada in English, as a beta with a waitlist. French, Spanish and other languages were promised for the following month, and the announcement did not specify Canadian French.
Does Siri AI send my data to Google?
Apple says Siri AI runs on the device and on its Private Cloud Compute servers, and that its models were built in collaboration with Google’s Gemini. Apple’s documents checked here do not say whether Google infrastructure ever handles a request.
Can I block Siri AI on company iPhones?
Apple says device management can restrict Siri AI, but its deployment guide describes only a broader Siri control for supervised devices and says more Siri AI controls arrive in later betas. Personal phones used for work cannot be managed this way.
The decision in one line
Write the paragraph before your staff find the setting, because the technical controls are still catching up with the product.
